It’s
always a good idea to get with your hair designer as soon
as you know your wedding date and number in your wedding
party. Your designer can then set a hair program for
you from that time until the date of your wedding.
You will want to start at least one month prior to your
wedding on designing the perfect style to compliment your
headpiece, veil, and gown. You will want to take
pictures at these practices, to give yourself wonderful
memories in your scrapbook.
One week prior to the date, you will
want to allow your stylist to complete any color and
cutting services. This will allow for the best
results for your day. Coloring, such as natural
highlights and low-lights can bring such depth and
contrast to maximize the beauty of your finished
style. Trimming will allow for better finishing
to curls, pinning the hair, and smoothing the hair shaft,
for again, a beautiful finish to your style. Make-up
applications are usually done closer to the wedding to
insure proper colors and tones are used to match your skin
tone. This may be done at the last visit, such
as your day of coloring and prepping the week before.
Others
in your wedding party, such as bridesmaids, junior
bridesmaids, flower girls and mothers may also want to
consult with your stylist if they are needing hair
care prior to your special day. Wedding attendants
may want to give your stylist a month before the wedding
for a consultation, to allow time for any future visits
they may need. Remind your party to not wash their hair
the day of the wedding, unless instructed by your stylist.
It is usually recommended to wash and style hair as usual
for the rehearsal dinner, brush hair out before bed, then
do nothing to it the day of the wedding. It is also
suggested to wear a button up shirt the day of styling to
allow ease of changing into your wedding attire.
Always
remember that this is YOUR special day. Your stylist
will want to make everything perfect for you and your
wedding party. Keep a good line of communication
with your stylist. Keep them aware of any and all
changes that may take place in the course of planning the
wedding to assure everyone knows what is expected of
them. Timing and managing during that morning may
need to be done by the hair designer, so allow them to do
the job you are paying them for. Relieve yourself of
the unneeded stress, and let the day go as planned.
No matter what, this is your day, and it won't start
without you!
